Syrian Army Advances Gain Momentum, Top Takfiri Militant Killed

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Syrian government forces continued to make more gains in their military campaign against terrorists across the Arab country, leaving dozens of Takfiri militants dead and injured.

The Syrian troops launched a major operation against al-Nusra Front in the northwestern province of Idlib on Sunday, leaving at least 23 terrorists dead and several others wounded in the area of Kafr Sijneh village, Syria's official news agency SANA reported.

During the operation, a senior commander who was identified as Abdul Qader al-Sbeih was also killed.

In a separate development in the eastern province of Aleppo on Sunday, Syrian military aircraft pounded positions of the ISIL terrorists in the villages of Tal Hatabat, Qatar, Ayn al-Jahsh and Rasm al-Sarhan and claimed the lives of scores of them.

Syria has been mired in a civil war since 2011, with government forces fighting an assortment of militant groups, including the ISIL terrorists.

Following the start of the Russian air campaign last month, Syria's Armed Forces have launched large-scale operations to retake occupied areas from terrorists.
