Iran, Italy to Sign Big Mining Deal

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran and Italy are going to sign multi-billion-dollar deals on cooperation in the mining industry, an Iranian official announced.

Agreements with a total value of $5.4 billion have been prepared for joint investment with Italy in the mining industry, CEO of the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) Mahdi Karbasian said.

He noted that the deals are expected to be hammered out during the Iranian President Hassan Rouhani’s ongoing visit to Rome.

President Rouhani left Tehran on Monday for Italy in a tour that will take him later to France, a week after a historic nuclear deal between Iran and world powers came into force and opened the doors of world trade to Iran after years of being hit by sanctions.

A number of Iranian ministers and ranking officials as well as a big economic delegation accompany President Rouhani in his trip. They are scheduled to sign several documents with their Italian and French counterparts on mutual cooperation in different fields.
