Syrian Army Regains Ground in Eastern Ghouta
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Syrian army troops, supported by the voluntary resistance forces, have made advances deep into the Eastern Ghouta region, a commander said.
According to the commander, the forces have managed to take control of a number of fields around Eastern Ghouta, near the capital, Damascus.
Meanwhile, Russian warplanes bombarded bastions of the terrorist groups in suburbs of the western coastal city of Latakia. Reports suggest that the Syrian Army is poised to conclude the war in Latakia in the near future.
In a separate operation, the Syrian troops could ward off the terrorists that had planned a severe attack on the Army checkpoints in the suburbs of the western city of Hama.
The state forces then launched a counterattack and recaptured some areas that had fallen into the hands of terrorists.
The Syrian military has since mid-October 2015 retaken several areas in the north of the country from Takfiri terrorist groups.
Syria has been gripped by civil war since March 2011 with Takfiri terrorists from various groups, including Daesh (also known as ISIL), currently controlling parts of it.
