Iran’s FM, Belgian PM Meet in Brussels


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel met in Brussels on Monday.

The meeting was part of the top Iranian diplomat’s plans during a two-day visit to Belgium.

Zarif arrived in Brussels on Sunday night at the invitation of Belgian officials.

Earlier in the day, Zarif had a meeting with Janusz Lewandowski, the chair of the European Parliament’s delegation for relations with Iran.

He is also going to meet the European Union's Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini tonight.

The main topics to be discussed with Mogherini are expected to include Tehran-EU political and economic relations, as well as human rights issues and crises in the Middle East.

Speaking to reporters upon his arrival in Brussels, Zarif said that Tehran and the European Union are on the path to broad cooperation in different fields of mutual interest.
