10 Mega Projects by IRGC Construction Base in Final Phases: Commander

MASHHAD (Tasnim) - Commander of Khatam al-Anbia Construction Base, a conglomerate belonging to the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), said the base is implementing 10 national mega projects, the completion of which will take 2 years if sufficient funds are provided.

“10 mega projects are under construction in the country,” General Ebadollah Abdollahi said in a ceremony held in northeastern Iranian holy city of Mashhad on Saturday night.

There have been 85 percent of progress in the construction of these projects, he noted, predicting a great development in the county when they are put into operation.

“So far, a sum of $25 billion has been spent on these projects, and if another $6 billion is allocated, these projects will be completed within two years,” General Abdollahi said.

Persian Gulf Star Refinery and phases 22, 24, and 13 of the giant South Pars Gas Field are among these projects, he went on to say.

He made the comments three months after the inauguration of phases 15 and 16 of South Pars gas field, which were completed by Khatam al-Anbia Construction Base.

The South Pars gas field, whose development has been divided into 24 phases, is located in the Persian Gulf straddling the maritime border between Iran and Qatar. It is estimated that the Iranian section of the field contains 14 trillion cubic meters of gas and 18 billion barrels of condensates in place.
