IFF President Kaffshian Has ‘Good Feeling’ after World Cup Qualifying Draw

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Head of the Iranian Football Federation Ali Kaffashian says that Team Melli has a great chance of reaching the World Cup 2018.

Iran has been pitted against South Korea, Uzbekistan, 2022 World Cup host Qatar, Syria and China in Group A of the last round of qualifying.

The top two teams in each group qualify automatically, with the third-placed teams playing off for a shot at an inter-continental qualifier against the fourth-placed team from CONCACAF.

“I believe that both groups are difficult but I think Group A is easier than Group B. We have already played with South Korea, Uzbekistan and Qatar teams and I think we have a great chance of reaching the 2018 World Cup,” Kaffashian said.

The IFF head said that Queiroz will remain Iran coach in the qualifying round.

“I hope that Queiroz will participate at the competition with a well-prepared team to book a place at the World Cup,” he added.
