AFC Champions League: Tractor Sazi Beaten by Al Hilal
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Tractor Sazi lost to Al Hilal of Saudi Arabia 2-1 in Group C of the AFC Champions League on Tuesday but advanced to the next stage as group winner.
In a match held at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Muscat, Oman, Salem Al Dawsari put Al Hilal ahead in the 14th minute only for Aloys Nong to level three minutes after the restart.
Brazilian striker Ailton came off the bench to score Al Hilal’s decisive second in the 72nd minute against Tractor Sazi.
Needing a win to be sure of advancing, the result ensured Al Hilal claimed second spot in the group ahead of Pakhtakor, whose 3-0 win in Tashkent against Al Jazira of the UAE proved to be academic as the Saudi side advanced in second place with one point more than the Uzbek club.
