Iran Volleyball Team Loses to France in Friendly

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Iranian national volleyball team was defeated against France 3-1 (25-19, 25-27, 33-31, 27-25) in the first of two friendly matches at Complexe Leo Lagrande on Friday evening.

The match is part of preparation for the World Olympic Qualification Tournament in Tokyo Japan for the two teams.

Iran is preparing for the competition which will be held from May 28 to June 5.

Iran will have to compete with Australia, Canada, China, France, Japan, Poland and Venezuela for a spot in the Olympic Games. The top Asian team and the next three top teams will qualify for the Olympics.

“It was difficult to just put seven players in this match,” France coach Laurent Tillie told fivb.org. “We still need to find our rhythm."

"It is important to get everyone involved in this kind of match because everyone brings something good. The players show all the vigor and the quality of work done in clubs. It is good for our future but right now we are focused on qualifying for the Olympics.”

The second part of their friendlies will be on Saturday at Harnes, 18:00 local time.
