US Simply Not Trustworthy: Iran’s Interim Parliament Speaker


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The US administration's records show that Washington cannot be trusted, Iran’s interim Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani emphasized.

At a meeting with Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin in Tehran on Sunday, Larijani stressed that the US has proved at various junctures that one cannot count on its promises, adding that it "quickly changes" its status. 

“Given its current situation, Ukraine should not expect assistance from the US,” Larijani also said.

He further referred to the role of parliamentary friendship groups in cementing ties between the two countries, and said more efforts need to be done in order to make the friendship groups more active.

The parliamentary groups should make necessary efforts in a bid to enhance Iran-Ukraine political and economic relations as well, the acting Iranian parliament speaker said.

For his part, the visiting Ukrainian diplomat pointed to the two nations' historical and cultural commonalities, expressing his country’s willingness to boost its economic relations with Tehran in addition to its political.

Klimkin also voiced  Kiev's readiness to export its agricultural products to the Islamic Republic.

The Ukrainian foreign minister arrived in Iran's capital early on Sunday to hold talks with senior Iranian officials on the promotion of mutual cooperation between the two countries.

The Ukrainian foreign minister visited Tehran at the official invitation of his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif.
