Iran’s Power Rests on People: FM Zarif

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif hailed the nation for empowering the country on the international scenes, saying such popular support contributes to national security as well.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran’s power rests upon people, and this is the major factor behind preservation of the country’s national security,” Zarif said at a meeting with Iranian expatriates living in Poland, held in Warsaw on Monday morning.

The minister also described “scientific progress” in different fields and “efficient human resources” as Iran’s main assets.

The Iranian foreign minister arrived in Poland on Sunday as part of his European tour, which will take him later to Finland, Sweden, and Latvia.

Travelling with a mostly private sector business delegation, Foreign Minister Zarif met his Polish counterpart Witold Waszczykowski on Sunday to discuss a range of issues and sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on periodic political consultations between the two countries.

The top Iranian diplomat will leave for Helsinki today.
