Iranian Taekwondokas Claim Four Gold Medals at Greece Open


TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iranian taekwondokas won four gold medals and one silver at the Greece Open 2016 on Saturday.

In the -54kg, Armin Hadipour took a gold medal after beating Greek Ioannis Tsiplikiaris 18-1 and Jack Woolley from Ireland 12-2 in the final match.

In the -58kg, Farzan Ashourzadeh defeated Max Carter from Britain 12-1 in his first match. Ashourzadeh also defeated Eleftherios Fakinos from Greece 14-2 in the weight category final and won the gold medal.

Mahdi Khodabakhshi seized a gold medal in the -80kg after defeating Greek Apostolos Telikostoglou, Russian Anton Kotkov and Piotr Pazinski from Poland respectively.

Iran’s Kimia Alizadeh grabbed a gold medal in the women’s -62kg after defeating Poland’s Gabriela Dajnowicz, Egyptian Hedaya Malak, Serbian Iris Jovic Vujakovic and Nikita Glasnovic from Sweden.

Sajjad Mardani claimed a silver medal in the +87kg after being defeated against Nigerian Abdoul Issoufou in the final match.

The two-day competition got underway in Thessaloniki, Greece with participation of 181 taekwondokas.
