Baku Accuses Yerevan of 20 Truce Violations in Disputed Nagorno-Karabakh

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Azerbaijan’s Defense Ministry again accused Armenia on Sunday of violating the truce in the breakaway Nagorno-Karabakh area two dozen times overnight.

Violence erupted in Azerbaijan’s breakaway area in April and led to multiple casualties. The parties signed a Russian-brokered ceasefire in Moscow on April 5 but mutual accusations did not stop.

"Despite the earlier agreement on the ceasefire on the Karabakh contact line, the Armenian side violated the regime 20 times along the line over the past 24 hours," the ministry said in a press release reported by Sputnik.

Nagorno-Karabakh proclaimed its independence in 1991. After the military conflict ended in 1994, Azerbaijan lost the control over the region mostly populated by the Armenians.
