Top French MP Cancels Iran Visit after Terrorist Attack in Nice
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - President of France’s National Assembly Claude Bartolone postponed a visit to Iran after a deadly terrorist attack in Nice left France in shock for the umpteenth time over the past months.
Mr. Bartolone was scheduled to arrive in Tehran on July 16 with a delegation of French lawmakers to hold meetings with senior Iranian officials.
The French lawmaker, however, postponed his trip after a terrorist attack killed at least 90 people in France’s Nice on Thursday night.
A French-Tunisian criminal well known to the police for armed attack mowed down people when he drove a heavy truck at high speed into a crowd that had watched Bastille Day fireworks in the French Riviera city of Nice.
Local officials say the truck was on the sidewalk for more than a mile before police killed the driver.
At least 120 people have been also injured in the deadly incident.
