TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Zobahan of Isfahan won the Iranian Super Cup after beating Esteghlal Khuzestan Tuesday night.

Zobahan, Hazfi Cup winner, beat Esteghlal Khuzestan, Iran Professional League champion, 4-2 in extra time in Isfahan’s Fooladshahr Stadium.

“Our players came from 2-0 down to beat Esteghlal Khuzestan 4-2 and I am very satisfied with the way they played. I dedicated the title to all Zobahan’s fans,” Zobahan coach Yahya Golmohammadi said.

The tournament was initially held once in 2005 when Hazfi Cup champion Saba Battery defeated league champion Foolad 4–0.

The next edition of the Iranian Super Cup was planned to be played on 10 August 2007 between the 2006–07 league champion Saipa and the Hazfi Cup winner Sepahan but the match was called off.
