Syrian Army Mounts Massive Attacks, Killing Dozens of Terrorists

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Syrian army backed by allied forces mounted massive operations against foreign-backed terrorists in various cities of the war-hit country, killing dozens of the militants.

According to Tasnim dispatches, the Syrian army troops have tightened the noose around Takfiri militants in the eastern neighborhoods of Aleppo following major attacks that led to the killing of a number of terrorists.

Also, Syria’s fighter jets targeted the terrorists’ positions in several embattled cities, including Duma and Eastern Ghouta in the suburbs of Damascus.

In another development, the army forces attacked a convoy of terrorists on the outskirts of the southwestern city of Daraa, killing several leaders of the Syrian Free Army.

The attacks came several days after Syrian forces captured Farafra neighborhood, also in central Aleppo, near an ancient citadel following intense fighting with the terrorist groups there.

Aleppo, once Syria’s commercial and industrial hub, has been divided roughly in two parts since 2012, with the government controlling the west and terrorists the east.

Syria has been gripped by civil war since March 2011 with various terrorist groups, including Daesh (also known as ISIS or ISIL), currently controlling parts of it.

According to a report by the Syrian Center for Policy Research, the conflict has claimed the lives of over 470,000 people, injured 1.9 million others, and displaced nearly half of the country’s pre-war population of about 23 million within or beyond its borders.
