Explosion Hits Istanbul Police Station near Ataturk Airport


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A blast has occurred near a police station located not far from the Ataturk international airport on Saturday, injuring at least 10 people.

At least 10 people sustained serious wounds, Istanbul governor, Vasip Sahin, said adding that the blast was caused by a bomb planted on a motorcycle.

"As a result of the explosion of a parked motorcycle, 10 people were wounded… The police are looking for a suspect who fled the scene on a different motorcycle," Sahin told reporter, according to Sputnik.

Ambulances have been dispatched to the scene. The explosion damaged nearby buildings. Police are looking for a suspect.

Turkey has been hit by a number of terrorist attacks claimed by Daesh (also known as ISIL or ISIS) and the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK).
