Iran, Armenia Ink 5 Deals


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran and Armenia signed five memorandums of understanding (MoUs) and cooperation agreements in Yerevan on Wednesday.

In a high-profile meeting in Yerevan, attended by the presidents of the two countries, ranking officials from Iran and Armenia signed five documents, including an agreement on using a joint border crossing linking Iran’s Norduz to Armenia’s Meghri.

Moreover, different organizations from the two sides signed four memoranda of understanding.

Iran’s Interior Ministry and Armenia’s Ministry of Territorial Administration and Emergency Situations clinched an MoU on cooperation to deal with emergencies, while Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization (ICHHTO) and Armenia’s Ministry of International Economic Integration and Reforms inked another cooperation agreement.

Separately, the National Museum of Iran and the History Museum of Armenia signed an MoU, and the fifth agreement was signed between the two countries’ ministries of Sports and Youth Affairs.

Heading a delegation, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani began a tour of regional countries by visiting Armenia on Wednesday morning. He is scheduled to visit Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan later.
