Assassination of Russian Ambassador A Blow to Turkey's Prestige: Russia

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The assassination of the Russian ambassador in Ankara is a blow to Turkey’s prestige, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Wednesday.

Andrey Karlov was shot and killed at an art gallery exhibition opening in Ankara on December 19. The Russian Foreign Ministry said it considered the attack a terrorist act.

"This, of course, is a blow in the sense of the country’s prestige. Because, as you know, any country bears responsibility for ensuring the security of diplomatic missions and diplomatic representatives on their territory," Peskov told the MIR television channel in an interview, Sputnik reported.

According to Peskov, an attack against an ambassador is an attack against the country.
