Yemeni Forces Attack Saudi Positions, Kill Dozens

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Yemeni army and popular committees hit Saudi Arabia’s positions in the kingdom’s southwestern province of Jizan in retaliation for recent killings of civilians in Yemen by a Saudi Arabia and its allies.

In an artillery attack by Yemen’s army against a gathering of the Saudi forces on al-Hamra hill in Jizan, a number of the Saudis were killed, the Arabic-language Al Mayadeen TV network reported.

The missile and artillery units of the Yemeni army and popular committees also pounded bases in Saudi Arabia’s border region of Najran, killing a number of the Saudi forces there.

The missile command of the Yemeni army had announced earlier that it hit al-Tala’a military base in Najran with a new type of domestically-made missile dubbed Zelzal-2.

The Yemeni forces had previously targeted Saudi positions with ballistic missiles named “Qaher-1”, which has a range of 500 kilometers.

Since March 2015, Saudi Arabia and some of its Arab allies have been launching deadly airstrikes against the Houthi Ansarullah movement in an attempt to restore power to the fugitive former President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh.

Nearly 10,000 Yemenis, including 4,000 women and children, have lost their lives in the deadly military campaign.
