Daesh Terrorists Suffer Losses in Syria’s Sweida, Qalamoun
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Syria’s army and its allies made fresh gains in their fight against Takfiri terrorists in the southern province of Sweida as well as in a Damascus countryside.
On Friday, Syrian forces launched an attack against Daesh (ISIL or ISIS) terrorists in the area of al-Rushdiyeh in the eastern countryside of Sweida province, killing more than 10 militants, Syria’s official news agency, SANA, reported.
Several vehicles, including trucks, were also destroyed in the clashes.
Separately, the Syrian forces launched an ambush attack against Daesh militants in al-Qalamoun in the Damascus countryside, killing scores of them.
They also seized huge quantities of foreign-made weapons in the operation.
Syria has been gripped by civil war since March 2011 with various terrorist groups, including Daesh (also known as ISIS or ISIL), currently controlling parts of it.
According to a report by the Syrian Center for Policy Research, the conflict has claimed the lives of over 470,000 people, injured 1.9 million others, and displaced nearly half of the country’s pre-war population of about 23 million within or beyond its borders.
