Chinese Firms on New US Sanctions List Say Exported Only ‘Normal’ Goods to Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Senior officials with two Chinese companies included on a new US sanctions list over trading with Iran condemned the move by Washington, stressing that they had exported only “normal” goods to the Islamic Republic like their other regular customers.

"I export to lots of countries, and Iran is a customer too. That's totally normal," Richard Yue, who is on the list, told Reuters on Sunday.

He added, "How is this fair? Why should others pay attention to what Americans say? What's wrong with my daily use goods?"

The other Chinese company on the list is Ningbo New Century Import and Export Co, based in the eastern port city of Ningbo.

Tang who is an export manager at Ningbo New Century also said they made "normal" exports to Iran, adding, "There's nothing we can do. Let them put us on the sanctions list".

On Friday, the US administration imposed new sanctions on multiple Iranian and foreign individuals and entities.

The US Treasury Department said in a statement it has published a list of 13 Iranian figures and 12 entities facing new sanctions.

According to the statement, the entities include companies based in Tehran, the United Arab Emirates, Lebanon and China.
