Saudi Mercenaries Killed in Yemeni Army Attack

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Yemeni army and popular committees, in a retaliatory attack against the forces of the Saudi-led coalition, managed to kill 11 mercenaries in the Arabian Peninsula country’s southwestern province of Taiz, local reports said.

The Yemeni troops mounted a deadly attack on a gathering of Saudi mercenaries in a district in Taiz, killing 11 of the militants, the Arabic-language al-Ahed news website reported.

In another development, the army’s snipers killed a Saudi serviceman in al-Sharafa region in the Saudi province of Najran.

The Yemeni army and popular committees also targeted and hit the positions of the Saudi-led forces in Asir Region in southern Saudi Arabia with Grad rockets, according to the report.

The forces of the Arabian Peninsula country have hit Saudi positions with various homegrown ballistic missiles, including “Qaher-1”, which has a range of 500 kilometers, and “Borkan-1”.

The solid propellant and Scud-type Borkan-1 missile reportedly has a range of more than 800 kilometers.

The missile attacks are in response to the aggression launched by Saudi Arabia and some of its Arab allies in March 2015.

The Saudi-led coalition has been carrying out deadly airstrikes against the Houthi Ansarullah movement for nearly two years in an attempt to restore power to the fugitive former President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh.

Some 11,000 Yemenis, including thousands of women and children, have lost their lives in the deadly military campaign.
