Al Saud Using Terror, Military Force to Keep Power: US Analyst

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A former congressional staffer based in Los Angeles said the Saudi regime is nearing its end, noting that the kingdom is resorting to “terror and military force to hold onto power” and survive.

“I personally believe the Saudi puppet regime is near collapse and realizes it must more and more rely on terror and military force to hold onto power,” Rodney Martin told the Tasnim News Agency.

Following is the full text of the interview.

Tasnim: For almost two years, the Yemeni civilians have been targets of cruel attacks and airstrikes by the Saudi-led coalition. Yemen’s Legal Center for Rights and Development, an independent monitoring group, has recently put the civilian death toll at 12,041, including 2,568 children and 1,870 women. According to the United Nations, nearly 3.3 million people in Yemen, including 2.1 million children, are acutely malnourished because of the war and total siege imposed on them. They include 460,000 children under age of five with the worst form of malnutrition, who risk dying of pneumonia or diarrhea. Why is the international community so indifferent to the heinous crimes committed by the Al Saud regime in the Arabian Peninsula country?

Martin: I think one reason for the outrageous silence to the Saudi war crimes is Islamophobia and outright racism. Clearly, in the eyes of Western Media, Muslim/Arab Lives DO NOT matter. Also there is no doubt that the Western puppet regime in Riyadh is being protected by western governments. We see that the Saudi Crown Prince recently visited Donald Trump. Trump referred to the Saudis as "very good people" despite the fact that Trump's "very good people” terrorize their own people, behead people in public, imprison their own Princesses who speak out on behalf of the oppressed people and wage a Nazi-German like war on the poor nation of Yemen. The Western media is as complicit with Saudi Arabia's atrocities in Yemen as it was in Iraq's atrocities against Iran in its war crimes in the Iran-Iraq War waged by then western puppet Saddam Hussein.

Tasnim: As Saudi Arabia and its staunch allies bury Yemeni civilians under the rubble of their airstrikes, some Western states, which claim to defend human rights across the world, not only are keeping silent but also supporting the coalition’s genocide in Yemen. The United States has backed the Saudi-led war with weapons, logistics and political support. What do you think about the role of the US and some other Western countries in the Saudi war crimes?

Martin: The United States itself has a long history of war crimes and backing nations that engage in war crimes. Just look at the United States blind support of the Zionist criminal regime of Israel, who the United States funds, despite the Zionist regime's espionage activities, interference in US political system, and attack on US Navy ships.  Israel has actively engaged in war crimes in Gaza & the West Bank with weapons supplied by the United States and the US masks these atrocities by using Orwell-like statements, i.e. Israel's war crimes are called "defense" in the Western media, Palestinian women & children are called "terrorists" in the Western media. The same tactic has been used with the very limited coverage of the Saudi illegal incursion in Yemen, i.e. US media justifies the Saudi war crimes as "combating terrorism". To coin a popular term, western media is "Fake News" when it comes to accurate coverage of Islam and truth about the Middle East.

Tasnim: In your opinion, why does not the Riyadh regime, which has reached none of its objectives behind the prolonged war, want to end the bloodshed and resolve the crisis through peaceful means?

Martin: I personally believe the Saudi puppet regime is near collapse and realizes it must more and more rely on terror and military force to hold on to power. In some respects, it may believe its incursion into Yemen is a way of demonstrating its "might" and keeping outside influences from inciting its population. The problem is line of thinking on their part, is the House of Saud does not enjoy the support of its own population. Also and more importantly, I believe the Saudi regime may well be undertaking the Yemen operation, and in other nations, at the behest of the US for the reason I stated above. Because the US fears a repeat of Iran's 1979 popular Islamic Revolution overthrowing a western puppet monarchy and returning the resources on the Arabian Peninsula to its people, as Iran's people did in Iran in 1979. The West fears true democratic movements. The United States is all about dominating resources; it is a mere 2% of the world's population but consumes 25% of its resources.  Gluttony is a vice.
