Iraqi Warplanes Target Convoy of Daesh Fuel Tankers in Mosul

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iraqi warplanes destroyed a convoy of oil trucks belonging to Daesh (ISIL or ISIS) Takfiri terrorists in the northern city of Mosul.

The column of fuel tankers was destroyed on Tuesday in al-Yarmouk and al-Soarah districts in western Mosul, Hashd al-Shaabi forces, also known as the Popular Mobilization Units (PMUs) announced, Iraq’s al-Sumaria news website reported.

A Daesh bomb-making workshop and several of their vehicles were also annihilated during the raids.

Iraqi forces launched the operation to retake west Mosul -- the most populated urban area still under Daesh control -- on February 19, pushing up from the south.

Daesh overran large areas north and west of Baghdad in 2014, but Iraqi have since retaken most of the territory they lost.

Iraqi forces launched a major operation to retake Mosul in October, recapturing the eastern side of the city before setting their sights on the smaller but more densely-populated west.
