Iranian Nationals in Syria Casting Ballots to Elect Next President (+Photos)

DAMASCUS (Tasnim) – Iranian nationals in Syria on Friday have been casting their votes in Iran’s 12th presidential election.

According to Tasnim dispatches, Iranian nationals in Syria have lined up at the Iranian Embassy in Damascus to pick the country’s next president.

The nationals went to polling stations in the early hours of Friday and the voting process is still underway, the report added.

Voting began at 8 a.m. local time and will end at 6 p.m.

Iran’s Interior Ministry has set up 304 polling stations in 104 foreign countries to allow Iranian nationals abroad to cast their ballots in the presidential election.

There are four candidates seeking presidency in the polls, namely incumbent President Hassan Rouhani, Ebrahim Raisi, Mostafa Hashemitaba, and Mostafa Aqa-Mirsalim.

A run-off would be held a week later if none of the candidates wins a majority, which is at least 50 percent plus one vote.
