IRGC’s Missile Attack Clear Message to Terrorists’ Supporters: Commander

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Commander of Iran’s Basij Force Brigadier General Gholam Hossein Gheibparvar said the recent missile attack against terrorists in Syria by the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) sent “a clear message” to supporters of terrorists, including the US.

“Today, the IRGC forces gave the US and bastard Takfiris a heavy slap in the face and made the (Iranian) people happy,” Brigadier General Gheibparvar said in a speech on Monday.

“It (the missile attack) was not only a military act but conveys a clear message that the Islamic Iran is not a place where (terrorists can) set off fireworks,” he said, referring to recent twin terrorist attacks in Tehran that were claimed by the Daesh (ISIS or ISIL) terrorist group.

The IRGC targeted Daesh terrorists’ positions in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor on Sunday night.

In an operation codenamed “Laylat al-Qadr”, the IRGC fired six mid-range ballistic missiles at various targets within a range of 650 to 700 kilometers, including the headquarters, ammunition and logistic depots of the terrorists.

Speaking to the Tasnim News Agency, Head of the IRGC Public Relations Department General Ramezan Sharif said, “The firing of these missiles had previously been coordinated with Syria.”

He added that the missile attacks were carried out in response to the recent Daesh-claimed terror attacks in Tehran, adding that Zolfaqar high-precision missiles were among those used in the attack.

The IRGC public relations office statement said Sunday that the missiles were fired from the IRGC aerospace force’s bases in Iran’s western provinces of Kermanshah and Kurdistan.
