Iran Foreign Ministry: Quds Day Symbol of Fight against Global Arrogance

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Iranian Foreign Ministry hailed the International Quds Day as the symbol of the campaign against the global arrogance and oppression, calling on all freedom-seekers around the world to attend rallies due to be held on the occasion in support of Palestine.

“Today, more than ever, Muslim and Arab nations of the West Asia region need to maintain unity, solidarity, and integrity against the anti-human child-killer regime of Israel,” the ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.

It is necessary for the nations to know their common enemy through insight and wisdom, and thwart plots hatched by the Zionists and their trans-regional allies to sow discord among Muslims and deflect the Islamic world from fighting the occupiers of the al-Quds and restoring the rights of the oppressed Palestinian people, the statement added.

The ministry also called on all Muslim and freedom-seeking nations around the world to commemorate the Quds Day as “the symbol of fighting against the arrogance and oppression and defending the oppressed people of Palestine”.

The International Quds Day is an annual event during which demonstrators express their solidarity with the Palestinian people and opposition to the occupation of the Palestinian territories by the Zionist regime of Israel.

The day is seen as the legacy of the late founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Imam Khomeini, who officially declared the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan as International Quds Day back in 1979.

This year, Muslims world over will mark the International Quds Day on Friday, June 23.
