Qatari Airplanes Allowed to Fly over Iran
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) has granted the Qatari airplanes permission to fly over the Islamic Republic as the planes are banned from Saudi, Egyptian and UAE airspaces after a diplomatic row between Qatar and the Arab countries.
Speaking to the Tasnim News Agency, Qoliollah Qolizadeh, a member of the presiding board of the parliament’s Civil Commission, said given the recent disputes between Qatar and Saudi Arabia, the Qatari flights have been operated over Iranian airspace over the past days.
He further pointed to a recent meeting between the members of the Civil Commission and the country’s aviation officials, saying that during the session, the officials briefed MPs on the flights of Qatari airlines over Iranian airspace.
The parliamentarian also made it clear that the Qatari authorities have coordinated the flights with Iran’s Foreign Ministry and got the required permissions from the SNSC.
Neighbors, including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Bahrain, have closed their airspace to the Qatari planes after they cut diplomatic ties with the country, accusing it of fomenting regional unrest and supporting terrorism.
