Iran to Harshly Respond to Any Wrongdoing by US, Cleric Warns

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A top Iranian cleric shrugged off Washington’s repeated war rhetoric against Tehran and said if the US dares to make any wrongdoing, the Islamic Republic’s Armed Forces will destroy all of its strongholds across the world.

“The world should be aware that we are powerful; we have a powerful, strong and brave leader,” Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Movahedi Kermani said, addressing a large gathering of worshipers here in Tehran on Friday.

“We do have the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), the Army, and the Law Enforcement Force,” the cleric said, adding that the IRGC is  in such position that “has struck fear into the enemy’s heart by (its) missiles (power)”.

“If they (the US officials) make any wrongdoing and decide (to invade) Iran, the country’s Armed Forces will not leave any stronghold of the US in the world sound,” he noted.

The comments came after US Secretary of Defense James Mattis recently accused Tehran of sponsoring terrorism and called for a regime change in Iran in an interview with the newspaper of a local American high school.

The suggestion of regime change is not the first by a Donald Trump administration official. In June, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson stated that the US would support those wanting to bring about regime change in Iran.
