Iran Eases Past Qatar at FIVB Volleyball World Championship Qualification


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran ended the FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championship Qualification on a high note on Monday.

The Iranian national volleyball team, who had already advanced to the 2018 FIVB Men’s World Championships, overpowered Qatar 3-0 (25-22, 25-19, 25-18) at the 6,000-seater Rezazadeh Stadium in Ardabil, northwest of Iran.

Iran had already defeated South Korea, China and Kazakhstan in the competition.

Iran and China qualified for the world championship as two top teams in Pool A.

Japan and Australia had also booked their places in the tournament in Pool B.

Hosts Italy and Bulgaria and defending champion Poland have automatically qualified for the next year’s World Championship.

France, the Netherlands, Slovenia, Russia, Serbia, Finland, and Belgium from Europe plus Japan, Australia, China and Iran from Asia have also booked their tickets through continental qualifiers.
