Branko Ivankovic: Persepolis Has So Much Respect for Al Ahli

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Persepolis football team's coach Branko Ivankovic says that they have so much respect for Al Ahli of Saudi Arabia.

The Iranian football team will face Al Ahli in Muscat’s Sultan Qaboos Stadium in the 2017 AFC Champions League quarter-final first leg.

“We will play with one of the best Saudi Arabian teams in the quarter-final. We have so much respect for them. Al Ahli takes advantage of several Saudi Arabia national team’s players,” Ivankovic said in the pre-match news conference.

“Al Ahli has a great potential and they play at a high level. They have hired Serhiy Rebrov who is a top coach and I know his attacking style since he was coaching Dynamo Kiev of Ukraine,” the Croat added.

“Persepolis also is a good team and we have the best players at each position. We are ready to play a good football but I cannot predict the result,” Ivankovic concluded.

The second leg will be held in Abu Dhabi on September 11.
