Border Security Indispensable Part of Iran’s Defense Strategy: IRGC General

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Lieutenant Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) highlighted the significance that Iran attaches to the security of its borders.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of an ongoing military exercise in Iran’s northwestern border regions on Sunday, Brigadier General Hossein Salami said ensuring border security and protection of the border areas is a top priority for the IRGC forces.

In order to ensure full security along the borders, the IRGC both demonstrates its defensive readiness and chases the enemies in practice, he said of the purposes of the ongoing military drill.

Pointing to the crises that Iran’s neighboring countries are facing, the General lashed out at the hegemonic powers for favoring a geopolitical change in the world.

The global arrogance and its allies are trying to change the world’s geopolitical map, he added.

The IRGC has launched a military exercise across Iran’s western and northwestern border areas, involving various military units, such as the infantry, the artillery, the electronic warfare units, ground force airborne division, missile units and drone squad.
