Israel Root Cause of Mideast Crises: Iran’s UN Envoy
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations slammed the Zionist regime of Israel and its occupation of Palestine as the underlying cause of all conflicts in the region.
Occupation of the Palestinian territories by Israel and the Zionist regime’s policy of aggression and usurpation make the core of all crises in the Middle East, Gholam Ali Khoshroo said in an address to the United Nations Security Council on Wednesday.
“The injustice has been continuing for more than seven decades, exacerbated through Israeli expansionist and aggressive policies towards Palestinians and the whole region,” he said, adding that the Tel Aviv regime has “arrogantly and flagrantly” violated at least 86 UNSC resolutions.
“These violations happen under the total impunity this regime is enjoying,” Khoshroo deplored.
The Iranian envoy went on to say that policies such as occupation and ensuing instability and the manipulation of societies in the region have paved the way for the emergence of terrorist and extremist groups.
“These groups, which initially received support from the US and its allies, eventually turned into monsters threatening their supporters and creators,” Press TV quoted him as saying.
Khoshroo finally underlined that US attempts to keep the issue of Israeli violation off the agenda of the UN Security Council are of no avail and reveal that Washington is trying to ignore the plight of Palestinians.
