Iranian Woman Officiates in Basketball Court after 37 Years


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – After 37 years, an Iranian woman referee, Fahimeh Alimoradi, officiated in an international competition.

Alimoradi officiated the match between Chinese Taipei and New Zealand at the FIBA U-16 Women's Asia Championship 2017.

Iran's participation at the competition also marks the first time the West Asian country will send a women's team of any age group since 1974.

The 5th edition of the FIBA U-16 Women's Asian Championship takes place in the Indian city of Bengaluru from 22-28 October.
