Death Toll in Iran Bus Crash Rises to 15
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A young female passenger died of injuries suffered in a bus crash north of Iran, bringing the death toll to 15, authorities said Monday.
Death toll from the Sunday evening’s bus crash in the northern province of Mazandaran rose to fifteen on Monday morning after an injured passenger, a 25-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at a hospital in the city of Sari, provincial head of the Emergency Medical Services told Tasnim.
Five other victims are in critical conditions, the official added.
The passenger bus travelling from capital Tehran to the city of Gonbad-e Kavus skidded off the road near the city of Savadkooh at around 7 p.m. local time Sunday.
According to figures released by World Atlas in September 2016, Iran is ranked 4th in the list of countries with the highest road traffic death rates.
The estimated road traffic death rate per 100,000 people in Iran was 34.1.
