Yemeni Forces Shoot Down Saudi Warplane over Sa’ada

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Yemeni troops shot down a Saudi warplane over Sa’ada province, the country’s army said in a statement.

According to the official Saba News Agency, the Yemen’s air defense shot down a Saudi warplane over the northern province of Sa’ada on Sunday.

It was a British-made Tornado plane, Yemeni army statement noted.

In the meantime, the missile command of the Yemeni army and Popular Committees fired a ballistic missile, Zilzal-2 on Meazab camp in the Saudi kingdom’s Jizan border province, a military official told Saba.

The Yemeni missile hit the target accurately, leaving heavy casualties.

Yemen’s defenseless people have been under massive attacks by the coalition for almost three years but Riyadh has reached none of its objectives in Yemen so far.

Since March 2015, Saudi Arabia and some of its Arab allies have been carrying out deadly airstrikes against the Houthi Ansarullah movement in an attempt to restore power to fugitive former President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh.

Over 12,000 Yemenis, including thousands of women and children, have lost their lives in the deadly military campaign.
