US Military Presence in Syria Act of Aggression

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A source at Syria’s foreign ministry said on Thursday that the United States’ military presence in Syria is illegitimate, a blatant breach of international laws and violation of the Arab country’s national sovereignty.

The source rejected US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson’s comments on Syria and said that such remarks are interference in sovereign states’ internal affairs, violate international laws and contradict the most important theories of the constitutional law.

The source added that the US presence and all what the US administration has done are “aimed at protecting the Daesh (ISIL or ISIS) terrorist organization” which has been created by the US administration, Syria’s official news agency, SANA, reported.

The source described the developments in Raqqa as an evidence that showed the US did not try to eliminate Daesh.

The Syrian government does not need one dollar from the United States for reconstruction because this dollar is stained with the blood of Syrians, the source said, adding that “the US administration only creates destruction and suffering.”

The source said any political solution for the Syria crisis should meet the aspirations of the Syrian people and not the foreign sides’ agendas.

“The Syrian Arab Republic will continue its relentless war against the terrorist groups with their different names till clearing up every inch of Syria’s soil from terrorism… and till liberating Syria from illegitimate foreign presence,” the source went on to say.

US secretary of state has said recently that it would help the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), led by the Kurdish YPG militia, set up a new 30,000-strong border force.

Turkey has also showed reaction to Tillerson’s remarks, saying it would not hesitate to take action in Syria’s Afrin district and other areas unless the United States withdrew support for a Kurdish-led force there.
