Syria Army Retakes Key Hilltop in Aleppo

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Syria’s army and its allies continued to make gains against al-Nusra terrorists on the outskirts of Aleppo, retaking a key hilltop in southern edges of the province.

On Saturday evening, Syrian forces inflicted major losses on al-Nusra militants in west of Tarafawi village in Aleppo countryside, managing to recapture al-Waz Hill there, SANA news agency reported.

Dozens of the militants were killed and their vehicles destroyed in the clashes, the report added.

In a separate development, the army troops launched an attack against the terrorists in the village of al-Jala’a located in the eastern province of Deir ez-Zor, a military source, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said.

Syria is in the final stages of a battle against Takfiri terrorist groups that poured into the Arab country after the outbreak of the civil war in 2011.

On November 19, the Daesh (ISIL) terrorist group was flushed out of its last stronghold in Syria’s Al-Bukamal. The city’s liberation marked an end to the group’s self-proclaimed caliphate it had declared in 2014.
