US Worse Than Daesh: Ayatollah Khamenei

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei denounced the US for its fake concerns about human rights, saying one of the Islamic Republic’s main policies is to discredit the American government which is even worse than Daesh (ISIL) terrorists.

One of Iran’s fundamental polices is to “stand against cruelty and corruption at the international level and to discredit it,” Ayatollah Khamenei said in a gathering of Iranian Air Force and Air Defense personnel in Tehran on Thursday.

“Today, the US government is the cruelest and most merciless system in the world, which is even worse than the savage Daesh members,” the Leader added.

Making a reference to the US president’s admission that Washington itself has created Daesh and to the American support for it, Ayatollah Khamenei said the notorious group has probably received training in violent and barbaric methods by savage US contractors such as Blackwater.

The Leader also called for efforts to give people the facts and discredit the US government that proclaims to be advocating human rights and even the rights of animals in spite of all those cruel measures.

Ayatollah Khamenei further referred to the US support for 70 years of suppression of the Palestinian nation and also its backing for the killing of Yemeni people as flagrant examples of American cruelty, denouncing Washington’s silence on the daily bombardment of Yemen’s infrastructures by US allies that employ American weapons.

Slamming Washington’s shameless move to accuse Iran of sending missiles to Yemen by displaying a missile debris at the UN, Ayatollah Khamenei wondered how it could be possible to send missiles to Yemen when the people of the country are under blockade.

Elsewhere, the Leader referred to the upcoming anniversary of victory of the Islamic Revolution and predicted that Iranians would mark this year’s anniversary with more passionate demonstrations given the hostile comments made by American and non-American politicians and the feeling that the enemy is waiting in ambush.

Iranians are going to hold nationwide rallies on February 11 to mark the 39th anniversary of the victory of the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

In comments in June 2017, Ayatollah Khamenei said the US is opposed to the principle of Iran’s independence, arguing that even if Iran were governed by a non-religious and non-revolutionary but an independent establishment, the US would again oppose it.

The US “should know that the Islamic Republic will not abandon stances such as countering cruelty and defending Palestine, and will not abandon its attempt to restore the rights of the nation,” Imam Khamenei said at the time.
