Iran’s Zarif Meets Tajikistan’s Rahmon in Dushanbe
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, who is in Tajikstan for ECO ministerial meeting, held a meeting with the Central Asian country's President Emomali Rahmon on Monday.
At the meeting, the two sides discussed bilateral, regional and international issues.
Pointing to the numerous commonalities between the two countries, the two sides stressed the need to forge closer cooperation and relations in different political, economic cultural areas, including energy and technology.
Zarif traveled to Tajikistan to attend the 23rd Meeting of the ECO Council of Foreign Ministers due to be held on April 17.
During his official trip to Tajikistan, the Iranian top diplomat will also hold talks with senior Tajik officials about ways to boost relations between Tehran and Dushanbe in various fields, according to Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi.
The participants in the ministerial meeting will discuss the status of the implementation of the ECO projects and programs, the relationship of the ECO Secretariat with international organizations, the activities of the specialized agencies and affiliated bodies of ECO.
They will also discuss progress and assessment of the implementation of the goals and objectives defined in the “2025 ECO Prospects”, the adoption of the New ECO Program on Assistance to Afghanistan, as well as the administrative and financial issues of the Organization.
