Iranian Rescue Helicopter Crashes in Persian Gulf

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – An Iranian rescue helicopter, flying from an offshore rig toward Kish Island, crashed in the Persian Gulf Tuesday with five people on board.

The helicopter was reportedly transporting an oil worker who had suffered a heart attack to a hospital on Kish Island.

Following the crash, the oil worker and a paramedic died. Another two passengers are missing, and the pilot survived, reports said.

Kish Island is located in the northeast of the Persian Gulf about 17 km from the southern offshore of the mainland Iran.
