Yemeni Forces Kill Dozens of Sudanese Mercenaries in Asir

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Yemeni troops targeted the positions of Saudi-backed mercenaries in the kingdom’s southwestern border region of Asir, killing dozens of Sudanese militants there.

According to Yemen’s Saba news agency, the Sudanese mercenaries were killed as Yemeni forces shelled their military outposts in the al-Alab border crossing of Asir on Saturday.

During the attack, a large amount of Saudi weaponry was also destroyed. The Saudi mercenaries suffered serious casualties in the operation.

The attack came in retaliation for the continued massacre of civilians and destruction of Yemen’s infrastructure by the Saudi-led coalition.

Since March 2015, Saudi Arabia and some of its Arab allies have been carrying out deadly airstrikes against the Houthi Ansarullah movement in an attempt to restore power to fugitive former president Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi.

Over 14,000 Yemenis, including thousands of women and children, have been killed in the military campaign.
