Iranian Weightlifters Cop Three More Medals at Asian Youth and Junior Championship
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian weightlifters claimed three more medals at the 2018 Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships underway in Urgench, Uzbekistan.
In the Asian Junior Championship, Rasoul Motamedi Sedeh seized a silver medal at the 94kg.
Motamedi lifted 161kg in snatch and 204kg in clean and jerk. He won the silver medal with a total of 365kg.
Qatar's Fares Ibrahim Elbakh won the gold medal for a total of 387kg.
The bronze medal went to Po-Jen Chen from Chinese Taipei with a total lift of 350kg.
Also, two Iranian weightlifters claimed two silver and bronze medals in the 2018 Asian Youth Weightlifting Championship.
Amirreza Askaridoun took a silver in the men’s 94kg. The Iranian weightlifter lifted 139kg in snatch and 172kg in clean and jerk and finished in second place with 311kg.
Pourya Ali Eskandarzadeh also snatched a bronze medal in the category. He lifted 128kg in snatch and 161kg in clean and jerk and won the bronze with a total of 289kg.
The gold medal went to Meng-En Hsieh from Chinese Taipei who lifted 312kg in total.
In the 2018 Asian Junior Championship, Iran’s representatives have already won three medals.
Hossein Soltani won a gold medal in the men’s 77kg category, while Aref Khaki Bakhtiarvand and Afshin Taheri Hajivand claimed a silver and a bronze medal respectively in 85kg.
The 25th Asian Junior Women and 32nd Asian Junior Men Weightlifting Championships are being held from April 20 to 30 in Urgench, Uzbekistan.
