Iranian, Turkmen FMs Discuss Closer Ties
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his Turkmen counterpart, Rasit Meredow, held talks on a range of issues, including ways to deepen bilateral relations between the two neighboring countries.
In the meeting, held in Tehran on Saturday, Zarif welcomed closer cooperation between Tehran and Ashgabat in various political, economic, and cultural areas.
“We see no limits on the enhancement of cooperation and are ready to develop and deepen our ties with the neighboring Turkmenistan,” he said.
The Central Asian country’s top diplomat, for his part, said Turkmenistan is willing to boost its relations with the Islamic Republic in all areas.
During the session, the two sides also discussed broader cooperation in a wide range of fields, including gas and energy, industry, agriculture, tourism, education, and culture as well as the development of the Caspian Sea legal regime.
Back in March, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani paid an official visit to Ashgabat at the invitation of his Turkmen counterpart Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow.
During the trip, the two sides signed a number of agreements to enhance the bilateral ties.
