Israeli Regime Can Never Feel Safe: Iranian President

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani highlighted the importance of anti-Israel protests held across the world on Friday to mark the International Quds Day and said the Tel Aviv regime can never feel safe because it has always oppressed the Palestinian nation.

“Israel can never feel that it is located in a secure place,” President Rouhani told reporters in Tehran on Friday before leaving for China to participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit.

“Israel should be aware that it is always the occupier of the homeland of others and will remain always a tyrant,” he said, adding that “the great nation” of Palestine will never give up its right of abode.

The Iranian president further pointed to Friday demonstrations to mark the International Quds Day and said that high turnout in the anti-Israeli rallies proves the solidarity of the Iranian nation and other Muslims with Palestinians.

Rouhani on Friday started his official visit to China to participate in the SCO summit due to open in Qingdao in China’s eastern province of Shandong on Saturday.

Countrywide demonstrations marking the International Quds Day were held in more than 900 cities of Iran on Friday with thousands of reporters covering the event.

The International Quds Day is an annual event during which demonstrators express their solidarity with the Palestinian people and opposition to the occupation of the Palestinian territories by the Zionist regime of Israel.

The day is also seen as the legacy of the late founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Imam Khomeini, who officially declared the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan as International Quds Day back in 1979.

This year, Muslims world over will mark the International Quds Day on June 8.
