Yemeni Army Launches Attacks on Saudi Positions in Jizan, Asir

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Yemeni army and popular committees targeted the positions of Saudi-led coalition forces in Saudi Arabia’s southwestern regions of Jizan and Asir, local media reports said.

A security source said the artillery unit of the Yemeni army and popular committees targeted Saudi troops in Sawda and Marwa villages in Jizan.

The Yemeni forces also hit gatherings of the Saudi-led coalition forces in Majaza in Asir with rockets.

The positions of the Saudi forces were also shelled near Alib border crossing and the district of Qama’t-Shaikh.

The attacks are in response to the aggression by Saudi Arabia and some of its Arab allies that has continued since March 2015.

The Saudi-led coalition has carried out deadly airstrikes against the Houthi Ansarullah movement for over three years in an attempt to restore power to the fugitive former President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh.

Some 14,000 Yemenis, including thousands of women and children, have lost their lives in the deadly military campaign.
