Heartbroken Japanese Fans Clean Stadium after 3-2 Loss to Belgium (+Photos)

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Japanese fans left their golden reputation at this World Cup intact by clearing the stadium even in the face of defeat, as their national football team admits its 3-2 loss by bowing in a form of apology to the fans on Monday.

Japan’s sad players followed the lead of their fans by clearing up after themselves following Monday night’s World Cup last-16 defeat to Belgium.

The Samurai Blue were involved in a thrilling clash, taking a two-goal lead in Rostov, but were undone by one of the great World Cup comebacks as Jan Vertonghen, Marouane Fellaini and Nacer Chadli all netted in the final 20 minutes. Japan’s players were heartbroken afterwards, having been so close to setting up a quarter-final clash with Brazil.

Images showed Japan fans with tears streaming down their faces at full-time.

But they proved they were not sore losers by cleaning up the Rostov Arena after the final whistle.

They did the same after their stunning win over Group H opponents Colombia earlier in the finals, accordinfg to the Sun.
