Training Jet Crashes in SE Iran


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A training jet of Iran’s Air Force crashed in the southeastern province of Sistan and Balouchestan on Wednesday, injuring two.

The Air Force said an F-4 training jet has crashed near the city of Sarbaz, around 300 km south of provincial capital Zahedan.

According to the Army, the two pilots safely ejected before the crash.

Nobody has been killed in the accident, the statement added.

A local medical official from the city of Chabahar told Tasnim that the jet crashed in a mountainous area at around 10:15 am local time.

Two people have suffered injuries in the incident, one to his leg and the other to his neck, the medic added.

In May 2016, a MiG-29 fighter aircraft of Iran’s Air Force had to make an emergency landing at a military airport in the western city of Hamedan, during which one of the pilots was killed and the other suffered vertebral injury.

In July 2016, a Sukhoi Su-24 warplane of the Air Force crashed near Lake Bakhtegan in the southern province of Fars, but the two pilots on board had ejected safely before the jet went down.
