US ‘Deal of Century’ Never to Materialize: Leader

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei deplored the US plan for a so-called deal of the century as part of Washington’s “evil policy” and said the US dream of consigning the Palestinian issue to oblivion will never come true.

Addressing a gathering of officials involved in the dispatch of Iranian Hajj pilgrims in Tehran on Monday, Ayatollah Khamenei highlighted the importance of unity among Muslims and warned of enemies’ moves against Muslims, particularly Palestinians.

“Now, the Americans (US officials) have called their evil policy about Palestine ‘the deal of century’ but they should be aware that, with the grace of God, this deal will never be realized,” the Leader said.

“Much to the dismay of the US statesmen, the Palestinian issue will not fade into oblivion and Quds (Jerusalem) will remain the capital of Palestine,” Ayatollah Khamenei added.

The Leader further expressed confidence that the Palestinian nation will counter the US conspiracy, adding that Muslim nations will also throw their support behind Palestinians.

Ayatollah Khamenei also decried some regional Arab countries for their stance on Palestine and said the so-called Islamic governments that have no belief in Islam are following the lead of the US because of their “stupidity and ignorance”.

However, with the help of God, the Islamic Ummah (community) and the Palestinian people will defeat their enemies and “see the day when the Zionist regime is uprooted from the Palestinian land”, the Leader stated.

The deal of the century was proposed by US President Donald Trump as part of plans to resolve decades of conflict between Palestine and the Israeli regime.

Back in June, Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner toured the Middle East to discuss Trump’s plan.

Trump announced on December 6 that his administration would begin the process of moving the American embassy in Tel Aviv to Quds.

After months of global outcry, the US opened its embassy in the holy city in a ceremony attended by a White House delegation and Israeli regime officials on May 14.
