Rouhani: Iran-Indonesia Ties Beneficial to Muslim World
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani congratulated Indonesia on the anniversary of its National Day, saying close relations between Tehran and Jakarta would serve the interests of not only the two nations, but the entire Muslim world.
In a message to his Indonesian counterpart Joko Widodo on Saturday, Rouhani congratulated the people and government of the Southeast Asian country on its National Day.
“No doubt the enhancement of bilateral, regional and international relations will produce precious results not only for the two great nations of Iran and Indonesia, but also for the Islamic world,” the Iranian president said.
The Proclamation of Indonesian Independence was read on August 17, 1945.
The declaration marked the start of the diplomatic and armed resistance of the Indonesian National Revolution, fighting against the forces of the Netherlands and pro-Dutch civilians, until the latter officially acknowledged Indonesia's independence in 1949.
